HDR and tone mapping

Wow.. I just did my first steps at making HDR and tone mapped photographs. See the first result:

Balcony

I took 3 images of the same scene using different exposure values: 0EV, -2EV and +2EV. On the PC I used the tool Photomatix to combine these and create an HDR image. Tone mapping was then required to shrink the color range, because normal monitors can’t display the full spectrum. It’s really fun to experiment with these technologies, I hope I get a chance to capture some good shots this weekend.

    The first photo looks pretty damn nice, it reminds me of scenes from high-grade video games.
